Dear friends …

Back in March, when the pandemic hit, my first thought was, “In 25 years when a young person turns to us and asks, ‘What was it like when the virus came? What did you do? How did you live?’ we will want to share what we remember, what we learned and who we became.

That was 10 months ago, and my oh my, we had no idea what we were in for. At the time, writing felt like a good idea, a way to chronicle our days and pay attention to everything new, all the things we’d want to remember. 3800 people from around the world joined me, and for the last year we’ve turned ourselves into Wild Writers, people who come together to share our deepest stories, and who have created a world through words.

We are deeply changed, creatively seasoned, and we are still writing together.

Even if you aren’t a writer – and many of these people weren’t – I want to offer you a very beautiful, deeply healing writing practice called Wild Writing, that enables you to get a lot of ink on the page and tell your stories with ease and grace. We specialize in getting past the critical mind – something we have lost our taste for this year because it’s tiresome and it doesn’t serve us.

Writing is more important now than ever. Look at us, moving into the mysterious future together, as one people, experiencing the same thing at the same time. Yes, we are still standing in market lines six feet apart, and still communicating to people we love on video screens. We have gotten quieter, spent more time alone, and learned to recognize our friends with masks on. We have lost people, it’s been months since many of us have seen our families, and we have also come to appreciate things like fresh air and sunlight, a handwritten note from a friend, things we might have taken for granted before.

Our lives have completely changed and we have changed too.

Creating a writing practice right now is the way to lay it all down and remember everything. It’s also the way to stay connected to ourselves as we make our way into 2021. Writing is healing, and especially a writing practice like Wild Writing, which asks you to show up as a human being and write something authentic and true.

I’m giving away a week-long sample of my Wild Writing video series to anyone who would benefit from a writing practice. Each day for 7 days, you’ll have a chance to meet with me live on Zoom twice – (we will record these) – as well as receive four, very short – under 10 minute – videos telling you something about Wild Writing, reading you a poem and giving you a couple of jump off lines. From there you will write on your own for 15 minutes.

You don’t send me anything, it’s not a class, just a chance for you to lay it down and get real on the page.

Wild Writing is life-changing. I’d love to know what you are learning, and who we have become this year. I’d love to write with you in the New Year. I’m happy to serve you in this way.
